Wallflowers
by Helen Betts

Taketomi Island, Okinawa, Japan

Taketomi is a small island in the Yaeyama group, with only one town, which has traditional Okinawan houses and water-buffalo-drawn carts for transportation http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/19306847. I found this on the wall outside one of the island's old homes http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/19306853 .

Sonny, these flowers are very common in Okinawa but I don't know their real name. I just called the picture "Wallflowers" because they were growing out of a wall, and I thought it was a cute play on words :-). Helen

Helen, these are lovely flowers. Is "Wallflower" its real name? Their colors are so fresh. You did a good job capturing their beauty.
