This was taken at Aya Sofya, which was built as a Byzantine church, then was converted into a mosque when the Ottomans took Istanbul and finally was designated a museum by the modern Republic of Turkey, a monument to two of the world's great monotheistic religions. This is a juxtaposition of a mosaic of the angel Gabriel with a huge Muslim medallion that one sees in some mosques. The idea was my husband's, who tried to capture it with my V1, which unfortunately couldn't cope with the low light.
