Waterline
by JoseNoway

I finally got my bubbles recipe worked out -- I can manipulate the bubbles and place them where I want, without breaking. I used a piece of handpainted fabric as a background, which seems to have given the bubbles and waterline a kind of patina. Fun stuff-- can't wait to experiment some more.

[Updated: leveled the waterline, at a friend's suggestion]

I still don't know what I'm looking at completely (even after your explanation) but, this is a truly beautiful abstract creation you ened up with, Nancy. My hat is off to you! Markjay

Thanks everyone!

Simon, I didn't write down any measurements for the bubble recipe-- just kept playing until it was right. I had water in the vase (you didn't expect that, right?), added a glug of Dawn dish soap (dishwashing liquid, well known here in the States for grease-cutting. Seems to be more concentrated than other dish soaps), and two glugs of glycerin, which you can get at any pharmacy. The amount of glycerin is going to depend on the weather to a certain extent. Humidity is a good thing for bubbles.

Nancy, what a great image. The simplicity, bubbles and colour work well.

Nancy, I like your simple subject choice...and how you minimalized the composition of your photo using large sections of muted color and subtle texture. Well cropped too. Looks like you're having lots of fun with those bubbles :) MFC

What is this bubble recipe, I asks you? This is an awe inspiring effort, Nancy. High art.

I really like this Nancy...all those tiny bubbles, and yes, the 'patina'. So how did you get the bubbles to behave? Melanie
