Sunset at the Slough *
by

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

This slough exists mostly as a storm water management facility. A major freeway is being built right behind it, and it served to collect rainwaters all summer (it was a very wet summer). In the meantime countless waterfoul have called it home. I drive by this slough several times a day, as it is on the route to and from school and shopping from my home.
When I stopped the car to take this shot, my daughter remarked "Oh, yeah, mom, like power lines are beautiful". Well, in this case, I think they are.
This photo is one of several different compositions and exposures that I took tonight. It is, in fact, straight out of the camera, for whatever that means. (PSP 9 USM - again artifacts near the power poles).

Excellent colors and reflections, Ann. As much as I would like to have seen an even more dramatic moment, I'm happy to hear you didn't stop and cause an accident! -Michael

Last night, this was even more dramatic as there were all kinds of interesting clouds being reflected in the slough. Unfortunately, I would have caused a traffi accident if I had stopped, and missed it!

Beautiful colors and reflection, and I like the power tower!

Ann, this is just beautiful. I love the colours, the clean reflections. The isolated power tower, that used to be a disturbing element, looks elegant in your composition. Jesus
