Refractions #1
by JoseNoway

One of my co-workers has a brand new and very shiny truck... with great headlights. I got two of my other co-workers outside with me, all of us wearing shirts with different colors. We leaned every which way to colorize the headlight in various patterns. It was a really fun experiment.

Beautiful abstract Nancy. Great idea to use the surrounding people to create the color patterns. Melanie (mlynn)

Very Futuristic Nancy. An intriguing image.

To the 2nd anon: Pattern doesn't tend to have a focal point. As it happens, this bit of patterning has several-- you only have to look to see them. --Nancy

Nancy, this could easily be titled Memories of Light... or not ;) I like how you chose metal in the form of mirrored surfaces to approach the theme. Kudos for utilising your surroundings (co-workers) to add spice to the busy abstract. - Simon Bennett.

Really a neat, metallic abstract, Nancy...my eyes wander all over this one, looking at all the lines and patterns here. Good eye. MFC

Well, it looks metallic to me! Very creative capture, Nancy. And I do wish that anonymous "critic" would have the courtesy of signing his/her name; this type of nameless, derogatory comment seems to appear rather frequently in these challenges. Helen

Memo to our visiting "mish mosh" broker: consider the possibility of Complex Surface Reflector lamp construction, in which case it would be the reflector at the seat of the interesting faceting here. Further memo: it's a good idea to have one's facts straight before opening one's yap anonymously in such a derisive manner. Nancy: regardless of what's actually producing the patterning, the lamp reflector(s) form a key, and indispensible, element in this and you don't have to concern yourself that it may only "look" metallic: the primary reflecting surfaces ARE in fact metallic, even though they're only a few micrometres thick. Great work! - Mike

ditto re anonymous hit 'n runners, john. sheesh. and nancy, i think that "metal" is really defined by you, the artist. there's metal here, however subtle it may be. i don't think that "metal" must mean "in your face" after all some of the greatest works have used subtlety as a major underpinning. lol - "in your face subtlety" hehehehe

good work. -- andy

to the anon comment maker, please have the spine to identify yourself. It serves no useful purpose making comments you are unwilling to stand behind....REALLY!! stand up and be counted. It cannot be taken seriously until you do. Fremiet (John Potter for complete clarity!)

Mark, I guess you will be extraordinarily relieved to know that I didn't go with my third choice. heh.... --Nancy

To the anon: It doesn't look like glass at all inside-- it never has to me, so I guess that's why headlights are one of the first things I thought of. Perhaps the mirrored (silvered?) reflector sitting behind the glass (or moulded plastic-- who knows these days) is what I'm seeing. Anyway, am I required to use real metal for the challenge, or can it just look like metal to me? --Nancy

This one is interesting, Nancy. THe other image in your series is not as appealing as this one. Markjay
