Take a Picture, Why Don'tcha. It'll Last Longer
by JoseNoway

I'm not sure if people will see the same things I see when I look at this photo. I think it's one of those situations where you had to be there. You might also have to know my dog Dave to understand how funny it is. The Boxer was one big puddle of puppy love, just wanting to say "Hey, how you doin'" to Dave. Dave doesn't need much of an excuse to want to bring a big dog down and he was doing his best to do just that.

you had your wits about you to get this. Do you have the camera grafted to your hand? Fremiet

Deb, "any dog, any time" would've been a perfect title for this. Wish I'd thought of it! To those of you who commented on the black and white aspect of the shot, thanks! I was pretty happy with how it came out, given the hurriedness of getting the shot. It just seemed the way to go, as the original is more black and white than not. It was a very dark parking lot, my car is white, and the little truck was black. There were only bits of color here-- each of the dogs has some brown and there were some red tail light reflections in the background (erased those).

Trish (Meem), it's funny you mention the window positions. I started to roll Dave's down, then decided that he would jump right out of there, so just left it the way it was. Mike (MFC), I would like to think Dave was more bark than bite, but that's not the reality. If he'd made it to that boxer, he would have latched onto his neck. Bye-bye Davey. It's really stupid, but there you go. What's funny to me is that the one thing that can divert his attention is a rubber ball. Dave will fetch it for as long as you are willing to throw it-- did it once for three straight hours. Back and forth, back and forth. The good news is that all this hyper-focusing of Dave's can be put to really good use when we do the obedience exercises. He's really good at that stuff, just a real butthead about other stuff. ;-)

Thanks everybody!

Nancy, the boxer seems to know that Dave is "all bark and no bite" in this situation..almost being a teeze :) Nice capture of the moment...good choice for B&W too. MFC

What a great shot, Nancy! Great timing, and very effective in B&W. Helen

Contrasty B&W is great, Nancy, like a still from an old gangland movie with just the right atmosphere. - Mike

Nancy, what a great picture. It looks to me like the boxer is very lucky your car window was rolled up. Love the b&w. Linda L.

Nancy, Great Capture!! I really laugh..looking at the position on the windows...one would think Dave's would be all the way down...and the big brut would be kept behind a closed window! Good shot and great in BW! Trish (meem)

Nancy, this is a classic. Why? Because the Dave's of the canine world tell us so! On a photographic note, the b&w conversion is lovely...I like the strong contrast to go along with the strong message. -Michael Puff

Really funny, Nancy. Dave looks like a feisty little guy - probably doesn't know he's little! Great capture. Bev

Very cute shot and a great caption! The little dog's expression looks like he'd have a smart-aleck retort to anyone who looks at him.

Very nice capture Nancy. Being a dog owner I can very well image how both dogs were trying o deal with each other. You did a great conversion to B/W here, I like the density of the back areas and the sufficient detail you captured for the dogs.

Very nice.

Wonderful capture, Nancy! Your background story makes it even better. I have a little one, (Ed), with the same "any dog, any time" attitude.---Deb
