I know, this is technically awful. I'm puting it in as a tribute to our old dawg Tom.
These photos were taken one very cold January morning this last winter on a family outing. Although half Golden Retreiver and half Lab (more or less), Tom has never had much aptitude for retreiving anything. He does however love to jump through windows, as is illustrated here. Some of you may remember the "Featherbed Trajedy" from the Photojournalism challenge! Anyway, up until about a month ago Tom was a very healthy and enthusiastic albeit "mature" dog. He has recently fallen very ill, and I know will soon depart this world. He has developed a terrible case of arthritis, will hardly eat, and has grown quite thin. He does not have enough strength to walk around the yard, let alone jump through windows. All of our lives are touched by the entrances and exits of loved ones, whether they be human or animal.
