Thank you everyone for your kind words. now to answer some of your questions. Yes i washed them because the dirt and grime didn't look too appealing. ( not that worms ever look too appealing....unless your a bird or a fish).

I did a search on opening a can of worms and the origin but didn't find too much on the history of this saying....sorry.

I am really glad that someone brought up the Laurel and Hardy thing. My original title was actually going to be "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into"..... but it was far too long... I didn't know if anyone would pick up on that.

one last interesting fact about this shot. I forgot that i had these guys in the can while I was doing my post processing. My wife came down stairs and went to put her supper on the table and let out a huge scream. then she said "You know what...I bet no one else has to see things like this...You're soooo weird"

It was all worth it after the finnished product was out though.....well....all worth it for me anyways. LOL

Lenwoodbluz...nice image in B&W. I esp like the catch light on the worms and on the can. Well composed, clear, & a clever idea. MFC

Very interesting take on the theme. Really made me smile when I saw it. Did you buy some fishing worms and then pack them in there? Now you've got me thinking... I wonder where that saying of opening a can of worms came from? --MIke Ezell

Now that is a totally unique photo if I ever saw one! Spamworms? Also very nice capture and B&W work! Have you ever seen earthworms under ultraviolet light? Gross!

Oh, yuck! Good photo - it really shows how slimy they are.

LWB did you stuff those worms in that can? Gid you then grab your camera and shoot the pic? With or without washing your hands? This is evocative strange and hard to forget. You grabbed me.

LWB.. Ultra rich and beautiful B&W Slither..Beautifully slimy and well exposed.. ..people are still wondering how the cara milk got.. into the creamy chocolat pouches.. and I am wondering the same here.... This is quite wonderful..like the film Blue velvet.. but it does make me a bit nauseous..Great shot/compo/idea.. irish_eye
