Cross Pollinated?
by bottles

I found this rather unusual Iris in our garden. I say "unusual" because the parts that make up the flower are in groups of four, instead of the normal three. Looking through the *opening* created by the four petals, a perfect cross can be seen. No Photoshop tricks here, this flower is for real.

Thanks everybody for your much appreciated comments. Due to the inevitable wilting process, this rare flower no longer exist. Yet, due to the marvels of photography, it's beauty lives on. bottles

So you could call it your 'lucky iris'? Even more rare than a four-leaf clover!

Bottles....Highly unusual..and a great shot...the inner opening looks like a comfy pillow..especially lovin' the busy outer pattern contrasting the smooth purple inset..remarkable..and challenge perfect..irish_eye

What a neat flower Bottles. I've never seen one like this. I like the unusual structure and the color is wonderful too. Ann C
