When was this photo taken? Where was it taken, by whom and for what purpose? The building in the background, what is it's purpose? Important!

Thank you for all your kind comments. Yes, this was the setting for "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"; it's really a pretty spectacular place, built entirely as it is into the valley cliffs. I waited forever at this entrance for people to get out of my way, but this was the best I could manage in the time I had (although there was some kid in a red T-shirt who has been removed), with a Jordanian taxi driver anxious to return to Aqaba and me not being able to get back into Israel if we arrived at the border after sundown.
