Thank you Bee. I just used reflected sunlight. I placed the key on a pine chest in the shadow of my camera bag (near a sunbeam coming thru my window); then I took a hand mirror and reflected back a bit of light. The reflections off of the metallic and glass parts of the mirror caused the flamelike light-bits. I used the same mirror with my 'high key' image to try to minimize the depth of shadow caused by the bright sunlight. And it led to the brighter oval and slight rainbows in that picture.
