Green Tree Blue Sky * by Troy Gorodess

Monticello, NY

When I took this image the sky was perfectly baby blue and the tree was green as can be. I overexposed using the histogram. To be honest, I dont fully understand why I did this.

Troy, I really like your subject and idea here. (*)If you are at all interested, I also played with this in PS for the heck of it and found another version I really like too. I converted to B&W, then increased the "blackness" of the "grey" and "black" colors by using the "selective color" adjustment menu. This might not make sense...but I really liked the result. MFC

My understanding is that high key does not necessarily mean overexposed. I think the perfect examples from this challenge so far are 'open the door' - a white on white image, with the subject and background matching but exposed correctly so that they can be discerned from each other, and either the wolfman image or the apple image for low key. Again, subject and background seperated from each other by properly exposing them. Maybe I am wrong. This does seem like a subject that is giving alot of people trouble! Guess that is what makes it a challenge!
