Excellent composition, Helen. Glad that blue board didn't fall when you were there. Looks rather Run-Down. But you did capture "A feeling", in addition to some textures worn by time! The top portion of the door looks like a good subject to photograph sometime. Bill B

Great texture here, Helen, and so effectively composed - nice lighting, too. As usual, your commentary adds so much. I really like it! Bev

Thank you all for your kind comments. There are many similar and interesting entryways in the Kale area of Ankara (and most just as decrepit, or charming, depending on your perspective), but for some reason this one fascinated me, and I dragged my husband back there to shoot it again (hadn't liked shots from the previous day). As I mentioned in the caption, it's really someone's house (in fact kids kept running in and out while I was shooting, and the shopkeeper next door began to eye me suspiciously after a while). It opens up on to a courtyard that wasn't very picturesque. And Katherine, "No:8" is Turkish as well as English (Numara sekiz) -- pretty convenient, I'd say :-) Helen

I really like the composition and the textures. I wonder why it has No. 8 written in English?

Really excellent! Superbly, and uniquely, framed composition. I really like the suprising way you selected just half the door and entrance for the left part of the composition. The color of the hanging board adds just the right panache to an otherwise almost monotone scene. Kudos ... R. J. (Imager)
