A brief explanation of this admittedly obscure idea (even to me).
I was playing with this crop of the eyes, and was reminded of those 1/2 masks used in old costume balls.
I also started thinking about how a face often doesn't really express what we think or feel; but sometimes serves as just a mask.
And who we or others think we are is often just an illusion.
