Sculpture by Kenneth Snelson - "Needle Tower", 1968, outside the Hirschorn Museum of the Smithsonian Institution.

The sculpture itself is a tapering structure of wire and rigid pipes. This shot is taken from near the base, and uses the taper to exaggerate the perspective. Nothing else was done to the shot to create the illusion of stretching to infinity.

Nice perspective on the sculpture, Ed. Since you asked (*)I would have simply cropped out the building on the left and kept the focal point on the "ladder" which by itself, is captivating to the eye. True a second object in the frame could give the viewer size perspecitve but, I don't think in this particular case. Nice shot. Mark J
