The Bethlehem Organ
Fremiet

The National Cathedral, Washington, D.C.

The organ in the Bethlehem Chapel is located in a separate but large alcove at the back of the chapel. Few people notice it because it is usually pretty dark and everyone's eyes are drawn to the chapel, which as they walk through is in the opposite direction to that of the organ. It was pretty tough to figure out a good enough angle to do it justice. You might notice that the light appears to cast very little shadow. Most of the light comes from another source above the organ's top right corner. Even though the light you see has less candlepower than the one you don't, the shadow should be greater (imo). Such is one small mystery of Bethlehem. The 'fog' and the coloring in the light are from lens flare/dispersion.

An effective combination of perspective and special lighting here. I esp like the effect of the "Star of Bethlehem" shining in the "night sky" above. Good, clear detail and mood here too. Well seen and captured, Fremiet. MFC
