I selected the petal via the wand tool;cut it as a separate layer; on the background layer I made a duplicate layer,set it to multiply, applied gaussian blur, blended it, lowered the saturation and merged the two background layers; on the petal layer I applied sharpening and boosted the saturation; then I flattened the petal layer and the background layer.
