Beautiful color & capture, Dave...really nice clarity in the drop...very effective DOF. Well done. MFC

For JamieZX Yes I did say 1/10,000 of a second. The fuji s602z will shoot that fast in manual mode..Look at the Exif with the picture. Dave

Great shot! I'd like to succeed in doing something like this some day... About the cropping: I think this is great the way it is. Because of the free space above the drop, there's more feeling of "drop" ;P Also, if you partially crop the orange, the remaining stripe might be disturbing. -Arn

Dave did you mean 1/10,000s? Or just 1/1000? Great picture though! 8D - JaimeZX

Thank you for all of the comments..Yes you have seen this before...I took this by setting up my camera in macro mode about 3 inches from water dripping from a faucet into a small dish from mexico. The dish has a very colorful pattern. The camera was set at 1/10,000 of a second with an external flash. I took about 100 pictures and liked about 10 of them. This spherical drop is, I think, a rebound from the dish. Thanks again all.

Beautiful and colorful water drop Dave. (It does look familiar :-)). Melanie (mlynn)

Wonderful image, agree with the cropping suggestion. I too would sure like to know how it was done?

Dave, I saw this image before -- I think in the Water challenge. It is outstanding! After seeing it, I made several attempts to do something similar (a refection in a droplet). Would you kindly explain your setup. Thanks for posting again. - EL-See

Dave, you've really captured a great circle here! I really like the reflections of the cloverleaf looking pattern from below, seen in the water drop. I would like to suggest (*) that you consider cropping out part of the top portion of the image, above the blue line (eliminating most of the peach / orange area). You might find it puts your drop more in the comfortable rule of thirds area and focuses (no pun) on my above comments. Nice shot.
