*Marathon*
by PJ

This one's going to take a bit of explaining - I think there's gonna be a good divide of people. First of all those who look at the mess and think crap, those that read the description and think crap and finally, hopefully those who read the description and think ... kinda cool.

This image is a long exposure taken from an upstairs window looking down on a marathon route running through the street below. Now you start to realise that those white points are the shoes of the competitors with the occassional pause resulting in a white body captured in the gritty, noisy image.

I will say I'm kind of taken by it just because I can afford to give it time to study the intricate little incidentals that result from the long exposure and viewpoint. The lady with pram and the legs cutting in just help fix the scene for me.

Would like other's views..

I definitely fall in the third category. Cool! The grain & b&w work were nice choises as well. JoeSchmoe

PJ, I really like it. It's thought-provoking. The tones and grain really add to the effect here. Before you entered your caption, I took the perspective of the person pictured with the baby stroller near the corner. From his/her point of view, I saw the foot prints and body blurs of the runners as obstacles to crossing the street...a "marathon" either way you look at it. Nice shot from an effective perspective...a lot of paths to take with this one :) MFC
