Observing the Fire's Path *
by mlynn

I'm afraid I've been too busy with work the past few weeks to take any pictures on my own time; so I may post a few of those I've taken at work.
We've been very busy with fire-related stuff still (I am SO tired of smoke-- it lays so low, and you can't see the sky). Yesterday I tried using an IR filter to help cut thru some of the smoke.
I've just been carrying my work camera (an Oly 3040z, and my personal c2100), as I don't want to subject my Sony to the smoke, dust and ash :-).

Thank you both. I am a Hydrologic Technician on a National Forest. Normally, I don't get too involved with fire, unless we have large ones locally. But the past couple of weeks I was working as part of a BAER (Burned Area Emergency Response) team on a local, large fire, and part of my job was to take pictures (primarily to help with mapping burn severity). Melanie, I like the perspective of the viewers onto this scene, with the simple path they took behind...nice photo. I too am curious about your line of work. MFC

These fire pictures are really excellent. You must have an interesting job. What is it that you do? - Katherine Kenison
