sunset: end of a path by Peggy

Maui, Hawaii

My mom (again) in Maui, watching a sunset as she contemplates a new direction in her life. We were there to honor my father's final wishes, and help my mom to embark on a new journey. When I see this image, I feel her thoughts of aloneness -- for the first time in 44 years. She is truly starting over now, on a new path of her own.

The explanation is nice, but the picture conveys all that you have said in words without the need of them. Nice job -- and FWIW, the faint sun-path on the waves really makes this fit the Challenge topic perfectly. Eric Hatch

Peggy, my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Father. Your portrayal of your Mom looking down a pathway to a brighter spot is a nice way of symbolizing both of your hopes and feelings. The sepia works well. Bev

What a very moving image! Thanks for the explanation. I had wondered why you would have chosen sepia for a sunset, but under the circumstances, it works perfectly. Lisafx
