Corolla, NC

This is a shot looking down through the stairs leading to the top of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. It was farily dark inside but managed to get a couple decent shots handheld. This one was from about 3/4 of the way up. I took one from farther up but didn't like the results. I think the light coming from the window a level below helped this shot.

I love the perspective. Beautiful!

Thanks for all the positive comments. Honestly I didn't think it would elicit this much response! I just played around very quickly with the railing to get an idea of what it would look like. I'm inclined to leave it alone but I'll play more when I get the time and see what happens. Again, thanks!

I like this image. As someone mentioned, I was thinking that the front railing would be better off cropped, but you must have thought about it before also that it would take away the beautiful curves underneath it. my humble suggestion is to burn the front railing a bit so it would be less distracting...
sincerely,
-Adi-

Really a nice abstract, Phil...nice perspective, lighting, and structural details. Good idea too. Well done. MFC

Almost an abstract, didn't even recognise it at first. It certainly was worth the effort of walking up and down the stairs a few times! Hewy

You got an amazing sharpness and depth of field especially since this was handheld. Love the pattern of the stairs - makes me think of the chambered nautilus. My first thought was to crop the front railing but then I could see that would take away the wonderful curving railing shapes underneath... so it has to stay. I really like this one. Ann C

I like this - even if it did have me swaying from vertigo ;) My immediate association was the work of Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Delicatessen, La Cité des enfants perdus). - Simon Bennett
