This is a cause near and dear to my heart. I have many cats and dogs and 90% of them are rescues. I have never made it the "pound," because the little urchins seem to make their way to me first. Such was the case last night as we were on our way home from the park. The dog was too frightened to get near us. We went to the nearest convenience store, picked up some dog food and water and made our way back to the park where the stray was last seen. When we put the food out we discovered that we were not the only ones trying to help this dog. There were several dishes, (empty), and a big plastic bucket of water. We filled the bucket and dishes and hoped he would return.
The pictured dog is one of the rescues from 2 years ago. He was tossed out of a slow moving car and luckily was no worse for wear. This picture was taken the day his playmate was taken to the vet to be neutered. He was very lonely, as you can see.
