Simon, this is very whimsical and completely delightful. The elements are few and tell such a magical little tale. Very original / creative idea. Sounds and looks like you have put alot of time and thought into it. My thoughts on composition... Since you have control of the subject, why not angle the pieces from one another? I think the parallel orientation of the pieces makes the image feel kind of static. Other suggestions... more smoke and more contrast between the smoke and the background. Maybe a black background would work, and it would make the DLS issue all but dissapear. --Steve Krichten

Really a neat idea, Simon. Really clever to make the candles look like flourescent fixtures...the candles/fixtures just "blown".I esp like how you captured the smoke...and your choice of a plain background. Great idea that took a lot of thought & execution time. I'll rack my brain after the challenge to work through your questions above, Simon. Nice photo/idea, despite your concerns. MFC
