This is a traditional Okinawan house on Taketomijima in the Yaeyama Islands, which are located close to Taiwan. Taketomi Town is charming, full of this kind of old or old-style homes and very narrow streets, barely big enough for one car. In fact when we were there, we traveled around in a cart drawn by a water buffalo (named Yae-chan, who had hibiscus in her ears :-).
