The site of an ancient Anishanabe Indian settlement is near my home. In the late 1700's the French built a fur trading post on that site. Currently, on the same site, the Army Corps of Engineers manage a river dam with a park and campgrounds. In the park is a glacial mound that the Indians dug into to bury their dead. In the late 1800's missionaries buried their dead on top of the mound.
