The Green Thumb, version two.
Fremiet

This is The Green Thumb version 2 (see my comment below). The day before Mother's Day I was in the flower shop and spotted this sunflower. A few days before, I had done a portrait session of a six year old girl..seeing the sunflower made me think of the work I had been doing with her and the ideas merged.....the green thumb occurred to me a bit later.

Sorry I didn't notice this until now John. This is just great. It does the trick! :) Ann

I love this image, Fremiet. You captured the sunflower beautifully, but what really touches my heart is the symbolism. The two hands cradling the flower (child) are a powerful statement. Exceptional work! Bev

I hope you don't mind my posting a second comment, Fremiet? I actually like this re-do much more... although I liked the first rendition also. The desaturated hands, brings to the forefront the two aspects of the image you were meaning to focus our attention on.. the green thumb and the child's face in the sunflower. Very nice work. Mark J

I think so too, Fremiet...good redo on an already nice image. MFC

Ann: You made me think. I had been struggling with a couple of facets of this image, one WAS that the thumb needed to be greener. I also felt that the hands were too color strong...so, here's my redo. I reposted the very kind comments people made about the last incarnation of this image, and will perfectly understand if any of you wish to remove them after the change I made. I, however, do think the image has become stronger as a result. John

this is SO creative -- and so well executed. I really like it, and I wish that my mind worked the way yours does, Fremiet! Peggy

John, I love this one. Love the idea and the executions. Beautiful child. And as someone said her sunny and dreamy expression fits perfectly here. Only thing I would change would be to make the thumbnail green too. And perhaps darken the whole green thumb a bit to make it less prominent and more evidently green (though it looks pretty green here too.) Cool idea! Ann C

What a good idea, Fremiet...that green thumb has sure worked its magic bringing this flower to life! Glad you captured this phenomenon so well :) Well done. MFC
