This is the best rose pic I've seen so far. The combining technique work PERFECLY in this image.

Two words pop into mind: "Rich" and "soft". Goofy analogy, but it's like premium cheesecake for the eyeballs. Nicely done. Joe Reilly

Hewy, I agree with Lisafx's comments...I think your technique of combining images with two different focal points really makes a nice difference here in the rose itself. Nice image. MFC

Beautiful rose picture Hewy. I have never managed to capture a red rose as well as this. Excellent depth of field and color. Lisafx

Thanks for you comment Mark, but actually I didn´t use any software to create the DOF. It is as it came out of the camera. I did use two images, one focussing on the closest part of the rose and one focussing on the lower part of the flower and combined the sharpest parts of both. I do agree with you comment however, but in this setup it was not possible to apply the technique mentioned... Hewy

A beautiful rose in deed! The clarity on the rose is very good. Might I make a suggestion for future attempts: the fact that you have a pronounced DOF for the rose and not the background "greens" is of merit. If you did the soft focus (I have no way of knowing) part of the image using software blur, leave the stem slightly more IN focus. It gives the rose itself a more appealing look when your eyes can visualize the rose attached to the stem, as opposed to "floating". I only suggest this because I see your title included the asterisk signal ;-) Mark J

Beautiful colors and wonderful DOF. Very nice contrast throughout the image. Beautiful rose, too. - JaimeZX
