Belgium

Instead of looking for technology of today I looked back, some 600 years before my time for inspiration. These are three of the most important pieces for me for our theme.

The first item is a Jan Van Eyck "Man in a Red Chaperon" done in 1433. He used strong variety of pigments to paint. Back then there were no art shops where you can easily buy a bucket of red paint. So whenever I see old paintings of the masters I can't help but feel so blessed with all the things available for me today and it's a pity that I just ignore them. The second is the pistol used in the Battle of Waterloo. For me, the pistol played an important role in that battle and it helped shaped our ammos today. And the third item is a book that until now has not been beaten by any e-book reader gadget or palmpilot.

Shot in sepia mode. Used lasso for the border and that's it. "1834" is the serial of the file and I kind of like the ring to it. :-)

other sizes: small medium original auto

EmnmE, I agree the carving on the pistol is beautifull and you shouldn't lose that in the image. I have no prob with having some interaction in the comments, so as far as i am concerned no separate thread is need (unless it gets really long of course).. Hewy

Hi Hewy, I tot of dat already. But I will lose those fine carvings on the pistol handle if I use oval. I like JVE's look, it's as if he just killed somebody and recorded the event on his diary (which is the book)... Can I post here this comment or you want me to use the official thread on stf?

Nice composition, well thought out. I like your explanation about the idea behind it all also. If it was me I would have used a bit more of an oval for blurring instead of the more rectengular shape.. but that's just me. Still an image with a certain atmosphere to it and that is what I like.. Hewy
