This image was taken from a lifeguard station here in Nokomis, Florida. The offshore storm seemed to be on a timer, with lightning flashing every eight to ten seconds out on the horizon. I must have taken around 70 shots that night (thank goodness for large memory cards). On this shot it just happened to flash above also, in grand style. The item in the water is a floating marker. The two people on shore to the right are holding a flashlight between them and seemed to be so small compared to the storm that is reaching out for them.
