Lucky Willem, shoots faster than his shadow.
by Willem

A composition of 4 images :
1) a blank wall
2) a cutout of myself looking into the camera
3) a cutout of myself taking a picture, slightly rotated and transformed,
filled with black, feathered and opacity reduced to 60%.
4) a bird, with shadow added.
Finally made 2 and 3 connect by painting a bit of black.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Praktica owners unite ;) I've too many fond memories to relinquish my last Praktica (AUS$40). Well executed image and very creative. Great stuff. Thanks for flooding back some memories. - Simon Bennett

Besides it being an excellent idea and a clever execution this image really brings back a lot of memory´s. I have read all Lucky Luke albums, and you are actually holding my very first camera. I still feel sorry I sold my old praktika at the time, but I of course kept all the pictures I made with it. Hewy

Yes, very creative for sure, Willem...the shadow itself is super, and your clothing color contrasts well with the background. Good idea. MFC

Mark, it is not a CANON AE1, but a Praktica Super TL 1000, a 20 year old fully manual SLR made in eastern Germany. It did cost around 100 USD new at the time. It still works perfectly, but I don't use it anymore. It is also in the "when macro was hard to do" picture in the previous challenge.

I really like this Willem! As previously stated by others... very creative of you. Is that a Canon AE1 in your hands ? :-) Mark J

lol! I love it, Willem. Very creative. Technically very sharp, too. About the only place that I think cutout is the sharpness of your right blue sleeve against bright area of wall. Maybe soften part of that edge? Your left foot is almost off surface, but the long darke area on the floor was a good touch and anchors you into the scene. Really fun! - Ro
