Wow Ann what an amazing day for a photo session. I love the ones with all the long tentacles of frost! Ann C

Mike, Ro and Ann

I really appreciate your comments. Editing is not my forte, but I will try. I will also attempt a reshoot.

In fact, Ann,...maybe leaving the flare and just trying to darken the two trunks may do it. The rest of the flare may help "silhouette" the trunks better. Just a thought. MFC

Ann, I too like the divergent trunk shadows. I esp like the quality of light that brings out the "virgin-like" texture of the snow. I like the circular "spots" of light... but I would try to reduce the other aspects of flare and try to get the trunks that produce those nice shadows to be very dark in silhouette too. I think doing that would enhance the effect of the shadows. MFC

Ann, what works for me here is the very delicate tracery of tree silhouettes which echoes the fine tracery of tree shadows at far snow distance and very fine snow texture itself, then all this delicate stuff playing against the stronger forms of the tree bank as an almost solid dark form (1/3) against the lighter snow field (2/3's), and the two larger diagonal tree shadows, and the more empty solid snow area in foreground. Large, solid, strong vs smaller, pierced, delicate. - Ro

Thanks, Ann. I'll give it a go.

I love the diverging shadows in this. I find the lens flares a bit distracting though. Wonder if a bit of judicious cloning might be used to either eliminate or tone down the flares. Ann C
