I use a small maglite. Actually, if you wanted to get the bottom of the bottle in focus, you could work in Aperture mode, use a narrower aperture to increase the DOF and just lengthen the exposure time appropriately. The shot's fine as it is, though, especially the color and yummy condensation beads. Do you actually drink this stuff? ;) Erichocinc

I used a flashlight as opposed to a lamp, in order to be able to direct the light to the top half of the bottle. I'm going to experiment a little more now and, i thank you very much for your comments. I enjoy learning from others.

The only reason I asked is because we (also CindyD) have a similar lighting technique. We put a piece of glass over the base of a lava lamp and put a dark fabric or paper over it, with a hole just big enough for the subject. I think a normal lamp would probably work also, and be much easier than a flashlight. It's not a very sophisticated setup, but hey, it works :-) Take a look at "Honey Bear" in challenge 10 and "Morning Bright Spot" in challenge 10 exhibition for examples of "the lava lamp technique" SarahD

Sarah..... I did it the old fashioned way, flashlight. :-)
Can you or anyone think of a way I might be able to improve on this? It wasn't easy as it was.

Wow! This is nice. How did you get the beer bottle to light up like that? It wasn't with a lava lamp by chance, was it? :-) SarahD
