Just a Drop in the Bucket
by Deb Kees

A friend of mine came over earlier this month and decided I should tap my maple trees.
Turns out that of the three I have, only one was large enough, (12" in diameter), to
tap. So far, I have collected about 4 gal. and am using it as drinking water and for
making tea.

Great clarity in that drop, nice reflection too. You're using sap as drinking water?? ;-)

Thanks, Katherine. After tapping this tree, I did a little research on sap, which resulted in a new respect for maple syrup producers. It takes 10 GALLONS of this sap to make 1 QUART of syrup! The process from sap to syrup is quite long and laborious.---deb

Really cool capture - I love that bubble with the refracted tree trunk! Is this a diet brand of maple tree? I thought it's supposed to make syrup.
