Art in the Open
by Helen Betts

Washington, D.C.

Taken at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. (The building is round, which might explain the way the light is falling on it.)

Thank you all for your comments. Jo, it is indeed by Snelson:http://hirshhorn.si.edu/visit/collection_object.asp?key=32&subkey=12691 -- good eye to have noticed that!

Now this image is my second favorite of yours. I like not only the simplicity of the artwork displayed, but also the angle at which you chose to capture the image.---deb

I love the simplicity of design and composition in this photo...and how well the rectangles of the building compliment the diamonds of the sculpture. The silver & gray color combination is just as simple and complimentary...and it's great how only two subjects fill the whole frame here. Very nice lighting/exposure as well... it really accentuates your full-frame photo of simple geometry. Nice shot, Helen! MFC

Always impressive to see these kind of sculptures. But what really fascinates with this image is the light on the wall, which enhances the pattern. Love it!
