Very neat idea, the choice of mug and the execution were just right. Exceptional. - R.J.

Thank you all for the kind words. Once I managed to come up with the idea, it took me a while to figure out how I wanted it to look. The lighting is natural sunlight. It was a bright, beautiful morning here for a change, which made the shot pretty easy. I set it up so the light hit directly on the mug through the window. After arranging the setting, it only took a half dozen shots to capture several images with the coffee splashing in the bottom of the cup. The camera was set on the same plane as the mug, in macro mode, using the self timer, so I could pour the coffee. Of course, the world mug was a choice prop.

I had a lot of fun doing it. I've also entered it in the weekly shootout at bxbweb, along with another shot of a glass globe, where the challenge is for clear glass objects.

Spectacular photo. You captured "the moment" perfectly, and the lighting really enhances your vision. How many tries did it take to get it right? How did you light the shot? Erichocinc.

Very nice. Good job with the lighting, shadows and DOF. It brings back memories. My parents used to have the same coffee mugs when I was a child.

Really nice composition, exposure and focus...what're you *complaining* about? LOL! You should be very proud of this one! Love the glass globe mug and that you're pouring the coffee in...very nice! Really like the light reflected onto the sill and the scene outside (nicely blurred by shallow depth of field). A very worthy entry! Well done...~Nee

Looking out my dining room bay window. I probably should have drank the coffee first... :-)
