I read that a 50mm lens is neither wide angle nor telephoto, so I cropped this image to make it look wider :).
On the right, the glass building is TEDA library. On the left the brick buildings are Nankai University, TEDA Campus. Nankai U. boasts Chou En Lai as an alumni and has a big statue of him on its downtown Tianjin Campus.
I really don't remember those buildings at the centre left being here last week. If you could see through the haze there is a forest of cranes at the end of the road, apartment construction continues madly.

The low angle together with the cropping does give the pic a nice wide angle feeling. I like the misty atmosphere too.

The low angle here enhances the WA feel, John. A nice one! The haze adds mystery and bleakness. Very moody!

I like the little bit of car & human traffic here entering from the left. & a bit more from the rear. The whole scene has a slightly omega-man doomsday look because of the haze & your narrative.
