by Mark Maclean

Lying flat in a pool of seawater let me get this reflection of my most photgraphed tree with the sunset in the background.

If I were looking at the scene thinking about taking the shot I probably been annoyed that the tree was there to spoil the photo of the sunset. I would have been very wrong. Seeing this photo, the tree attracts my eye more than the sunset and becomes the focal point. It is a beautiful sunset but that lonely tree... Wow.

Beautiful shot. I should be so lucky (talented) to capture an image such as this.

The tree's reflection is more poignant because of its isolation and the dramatic setting. The tree seems to be lonely and to be thinking, or I am. (The preceding remarks were not influenced by any beverages.)

Must have been the Drambuie I was sipping to take the chill off, John. ;)

Inframan used a lot of big word and terms that I do not understand but I agree one of the best sunsets I have seen.

Wish I had been there.

Man, this shot takes my breath away. I love that the cloud patterns are totally different in the 2 halves. In fact as I study this image the 2 parts have an almost classic dichotomy to them, sort of akin to the philosophical duality of man (am I getting too heavy here?) - the light & the dark, triumphant & brooding.
I have to say that this is probably the most beautiful sunset photo I have ever seen.
