Our guide sets out glasses and begins to pour, starting with a 3-year-old Calvados, then 8- and 15-year-old models. Age tells; the 15-year-old Calvados is much smoother, much fuller. There is also the lighter Liqueur de Pomme, very refreshing when mixed with Champagne in the local aperitif known as Kir Normande. We sample them all, then begin to calculate how many bottles we can cram into our already overstuffed rental car.
