Turtle (don't know what kind) on its way to the river

I've been offline now for a little over a week while I had hardwood floors put in my house. Everything is back where it should be now except the living room. I was out in the garage rummaging for touchup paint when I found this turtle at my feet. It was obvious he was headed for the river and very determined. I took him to my back yard and subjected him to a photo shoot. Then I ferried him to a shady spot on the parkway where he proceed to make his way to the river.
