We took a 6-day vacation to Tucson, Arizona the second week of March. Lynne had been in Tucson on business many years ago and remembered it as a great vacation spot this time of year. Gary longed to return to Grand Canyon, but Tucson - an hour from the Mexican border - would definitely be warmer. It turned out that Flagstaff, the city nearest G.C., got several inches of snow during our visit week while we enjoyed cloudless skies and temperatures in the 80s.
Gary was worried that there would be nothing to look at but desert, shades of brown and gray-green. WRONG! It has been a wet spring, and there were flowers everywhere. We could have easily spent another week - or month.
We even talked about moving there someday, but someone out there said to be sure and practice for the summers first. This could be accomplished, he said, by preheating our kithchen oven to 350 and sticking our heads inside for awhile...
We took over 500 pictures with Gary's D70, Lynne's new Coolpix 5200, and Garrett's hand-me-down Coolpix 800. Here are just a few, with the image quality downgraded for size purposes.
