It is the field research season and we have projects occurring in several locations on mainland Nova Scotia. I try to visit each of the research students at least weekly but traveling from one end to the other is about 350 kilometers. I often reflect on the balance between the increase in my carbon footprint versus the benefits to the species at risk that we are working with.
