Happisburgh Lighthouse, an old favorite, and in my opinion the most iconic building in Norfolk.

I know I tend to post-process my photos quite a lot; I don't have a problem
with this as I am trying to create a mood and atmosphere, and as many of
you will know, I am no photographic purist (not that I have anything against
those who are!). However, it is sometimes nice to upload a photo that needs no
enhancement, and this is one such photo - uncropped and completely as shot.

To get this sort of sky is always a treat, but to be somewhere special at the
same time is a match made in heaven, so at the end of yet another gloriously
volatile English summer's day, I was lucky enough to end up in Happisburgh just
as the final rainstorm of the day passed out to sea. It left behind it this
astounding fleeting sunshine and a sweet-smelling air so clear and fresh that
if you could bottle it it would make you a fortune. I also feel that this photo
is another endorsement of my maxim of staying out long after the day looks lost
to bad weather. If you can resist the temptation to go home for a nice cuppa,
just occasionally you are rewarded with light like this. Ok, I missed the best
of the rainbow by about a minute, but you can't have everything!
