This Igloo soft cooler case holds the 300f2.8IS with hood on perfectly. This is a $10 item and quite well made. It is definitely safer to keep inside your vehicle than a lens case and can aslo keep the lens cooler for a short time. The 400f4DO lens can also fit nicely inside this cooler case with the lens hood in ready position.
