Knee Replacement

Revision of 1997 knee replacement. I've got my own Steve Austin...they had the Johnson & Johnson rep in on the surgery and it was a good thing. They had to take out the top and bottom parts of the prior prosthetic knee. Both were loose and rolling around against his bones. According to the Dr., they had to custom-build the new knee.

They re-ground the femur and drilled a new hole into the tibia to place the new parts. Evidently they had to use a few "mystery parts" to put it all back together. "You can't buy what he has in his knee", the Dr. told me. Whatever that means (scary!). Then they had to sew his tendons back on top of the knee cap to tighten it back up. That means he has to keep his leg straight for three full weeks before he can begin physical therapy.

All that said, he's in much less pain already. The new knee will be awesome once all the healing is done. By then it will be time to get the left one done. =)
