Dating from 1443, this was the gatehouse to a house with a surrounding wall and moat.
The home of the Parr family, and of Catherine Parr, (last wife of Henry VIII).
Later it was the centre of a plot to kill King Charles II and his brother the Duke of York, (later James II).
