the pipe that never was......PAGE THREE

A while back, I was sent some scanned pics of an article from an old Motor Trend magazine. The article was about a special project Volvo 240: a 240 that was converted to turbocharged; in the late 70s; and done by a company called DM Engineering, located in Brookfield, CT.

I searched around, and finally located and bought a copy of that particular issue of Motor Trend: the April, 1980 issue.

Here are pics of the pages of the article in that April issue.

I've included the 'original' size of the pictures taken, to allow the viewer to enlarge the pages so as to be able to look at the engine compartment shots, and see how DME configured things under the hood.

This confirms for me the source of "the pipe that never was".

Read the article. The power output increases, as well as the other results, are impressive.

And it affirms my decision to construct a version of 'the pipe that never was', and install it on a turbo motor.

...if DME was able to get the results they got, and do it using a NA fuel injection system and the stock 2in diameter exhaust system, I am really looking forward to what happens when I use a FI setup for turbocharged operation and use 3in exhaust.

Aughta be a real kick!
