the culprit

Once I had the Streak in for the other items on the service list, I tore into the vent system to find out the "why".

I found the cause...the culprit.

This angled 'nipple' pipe, which is located on top of the oil vapor separator 'box' on the left side of the block, was what was giving me grief.

Its purpose is to allow for the routing of the vent hose up from the separator and through the intake runners on over to the intake pipe...without kinks in the hose. And, to provide a small bleed to the intake manifold--through that small tee that has a cap on it. NA motors and B230FTs use the small tee for the bleed to the intake. B21FTs do not use the small tee; hence the cap on it.

That is all fine and dandy. But that nipple is hiding something inside:
