Valley of Fire State Park is located near Lake Mead approximately 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, dedicated in 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old petroglyphs. Movie producers have enjoyed this Park, with scenes from Total Recall (outdoor Mars scenes) and Star Trek: Generations (scene when Kirk falls to his death) being filmed here. I hope that you enjoy this gallery of images collected while exploring this wonderful park so near to Las Vegas.
