Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada range of the United States. At a surface elevation of 6,225 ft, it is located along the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. Its depth is 1,645 ft, making it the USA's second-deepest lake.

I recently took a quick weekend trip to Lake Tahoe to escape the heat in Las Vegas. Although it was mid July, there was still snow at the higher elevations. That led to nice waterfalls and creeks flowing high through the mountain valleys, and also to very cold lake temperatures. Afternoon clouds led to interesting sky conditions for pictures, along with the blues of the water and the greens of the trees. Wildflowers were blooming at many locations which also led to nice photo opportunities. I hope you enjoy this gallery.
